i-podomania

Well my original i-pod has finally given up the ghost after almost 2 years. The batteries when  fully charged lasted all of 10 minutes which was extremely frustating when in the middle of listening to a particularly brilliant guitar solo or song! So it was off yesterday to PC World (a UK computer superstore) to purchase a black 30 gig video i-pod. I have been unable recently to put new tracks onto the old i-pod as it thought it was full up (which it wasn't) and I couldn't fix it to think otherwise. It was also the old Windows model and as I am now the possessor of a shiny new Powerbook.. I needed to do something. The new machine seems much more flexible and charges from the USB port which is great. I will be spending the next few weeks prior to Phoenix loading it with sounds for my trip to the States and the much anticipated drive to the Grand Canyon!

I remember sitting transfixed, my mind whirring like a blender as Ms. McMillian encouraged our second grade class to imagine the world in the year....2000! Mind you, it was 1979 and then as now, theories of the future abounded ranging from the utterly nut-ball to the plausible. Of course computer technology would solve all our problems from interstellar travel to clogged toilets (...or evolve into sentient apocalyptic robots bent on exterminating all human life), cars would routinely fly, the Cubs would win the World Series, and my brother's band would have its own website.

Well at least they got something right.
