The Bearded Pigs

Excellent!

Well as I mentioned yesterday, I went to see Chris Rea last night on his final tour. He played the Hammersmith Apollo, which is one of my favourite venues, and it was packed! He managed to mix new material from his 11 CD set (yes 11 CD's) of blues music with some old favourites like "Road to Hell", "On the Beach" and "Stainsby Girls". He played some outstanding (and loud) slide guitar on a series of very nice axes - from his old red Strat to a beautiful blue Hagstrom (I think..). The funny thing was that the blues numbers took me back to my "Mississippi Delta" tour last year especially when he was singing about Highways 61 and 49...
It looks like he is only touring the UK and Europe so there is a small benefit of living this side of the pond.. and yes I bought the 11 CD set this morning from Amazon and will put it on my i-pod to play to anyone who cares to listen to it in Phoenix!

Some great UK 70's sounds

Having mastered the complexities of ftp'ing sound files onto the BP server (thanks to SG) - I have uploaded 3 songs - not because I think we should play them but because I think you would appreciate them as examples of 70's UK sounds (and maybe we might play them some day..) They are:

See the World (Thru my eyes) by Vinegar Joe with Robert Palmer (again) and Elkie Brooks on vocals
Song for Suzie by Heads, Hands and Feet with a great guitar solo by Albert Lee - I almost wore the grooves off of my vinyl copy in the 70's as I played it so much!
